Weekend Woes

Earlier last week Daniel decided we should drive up to the grand canyon. I thought about it for a minute and concluded it would be nice to get out of the house, and seeing as how I really enjoy being in such close proximity to Daniel for hours on end, thought it was a good idea. So Friday night we started our little trip. Note to self, dont go on road trips with Daniel when he is grumpy, it will only make me grumpy. After a long and grumpy drive we stopped and spent the night in Flagstaff, then got up on Saturday and drove the rest of the way. Once we were there, the kids were impressed for maybe a minute, and then ready to move on. Another note to self, taking a two year old to the grand canyon where there isnt much in regards to keeping hyperactive toddlers from running right off the edge into the thousand feet drops into the grand canyon is NOT a good idea. A few people even pointed out how they thought I was a negligent mother in the fact I didnt have him tied to a leash. SO after a couple hours, we started the drive back home. upon which I concluded that this was not a favorite trip in the history of the Jackson family. I think its safe to say this weekend I will be perfectly content staying at home.

LOL! I think you're always bound to have trips like that sometimes. But you've got the right idea, NOTE TO SELF!

We haven't gone to the GC for years, but I think our trip there was kind of grumpy too.

I have some hilarious frowny faced pictures of Jeff, Ryan and Ally. Ryan and Ally were mad because we were afraid to let them run around, and Jeff was mad because I was trying to take pictures, even though we were all losing it...

Fun times, fun times...

I hope the Polar Express trip goes better. Hey, I've never even been to the Grand Canyon yet!

Oh bummer! Maybe when the kids are bigger. We loved our trip there, but we didn't have little munchkins to worry about.

What a bummer. I hate when things like that happen.

We went to the Grand Canyon with the Felders when Smith was about 6 months old. I'd love to go again, but I would never go now with my kids. Kim Felder told me about a big thick book she bought for her Dad that is all about the people who have died at the Grand Canyon, tons of them being kids. That freaked me out a bit. My kids are super hyper. So they won't be visiting the G.C. for a while.

I'm not even a mom that gets easily stressed out, but that would stress me out.

I thought the Polar Express trip would include the Grand Canyon? You should have consulted me before taking a trip to the biggest hole in the world. Next time, just take a trip down to my house! I guarantee a better time!

Seriously that is too bad that you didn't have the best time. Good to get out though huh? I only have really bad memories (and scars) from the Grand Canyon so I am not going back anytime soon! HEre is a thought... come to Utah for the next visit!

Sorry it didn't turn out good, in theory it sounds fun, but I guess once you are there and can't relax for fear of your child falling off the edge, not to mention not in the happiest of moods, that it kind of puts a damper on things. I have never been to the GC, but after this post, I am fine with that.
