Kids

I tend to jump the gun in regards to Christmas. I decorate before Thanksgiving and to be honest, I never really stop listening to Christmas music. Yesterday I was listening to the Oak Ridge Boys Christmas CD. I thought the following words were pretty profound:
"Thank God for kids there's magic for a while
A special kind of sunshine in a smile
Do you ever stop to think or wonder why...
the nearest thing to heaven is a child?"

Those few words struck a chord and I couldnt help but hold my kids a little closer for a little longer yesterday. They really are heaven sent and each one does bring a special spirit into our home. I tend to forget how special they are from time to time while dealing with the whining/grumpiness/"gimmee gimmee gimmee, I need!"(movie trivia)/bickering they tend to make a daily habit out of. But really when I step back from the little frustrations there is no other feeling in the world to compare to the love I have for them. I love this time of their lives where there is a simple magic to everything. I need to step back more often to appreciate this time before its just a memory.

I have a CD of my all time favorite songs ever recorded, and that's one of my songs! I remember my aunt crying every time it was played on the radio, and I couldn't figure out what that was all about. Now I know.

You're always so good at stepping back and getting a good perspective on life.

It does become a memory all too quick...and then your memory fades! I am glad you are recording them.

Hi Kimmy!
Hey I love to jump in on Christmas also and I love that song! I agree our kids are heaven sent! It is amazing how each one fits in so well and brings so much to your family! Brian and I was actually talking about that tonight! We are so glad we didn't stop at two! I love your pictures of your kids, they are so cute!

WHAT ABOUT BOB? Man I am good at this trivia stuff!! That is actually on of my favorite movies. I've seen it 1 million times and I still crack up.

I have to say I'm not a huge Christmas lover, but I do love my kids.

Kimmy, you seem to always keep things in the right context. I think you are way ahead of your time on that!

I don't think I've ever heard that song! You need to make me a Christmas CD...o.k I mean we both know you have soooooo much time on your hands! I do love the perspective on that. It's so true, what a sad world we would be in without children. I feel blessed to have them close, even if it does pass to fast. Be honest, have you started decorating for Christmas?
